What does an
Environmental Engineering Technician do?

An Environmental Engineering Technician conducts analysis of soil, groundwater, or atmospheric samples to determine if pollutants are present and implements appropriate corrective action if necessary. Performs environmental compliance audits and risk assessments.  

How do you prepare?
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. A heavy concentration of science and math classes is beneficial if you want to be a Environmental Engineering Technician. This position performs a variety of tasks and typically works under immediate supervision.

What’s the pay like?
As an Environmental Engineer in Iowa you can expect to earn approximately $70,480 a year, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
