How do you prepare?
You must obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) AND Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) exam of the U.S. Department of Transportation. In addition to a written test, truck drivers must pass a physical exam, including vision and hearing screenings.

As a Heavy or Tractor Truck Driver in Iowa you can expect to earn approximately $36,282 a year, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
