Heavy Truck and Tractor-Trailer Drivers transport goods including cars, livestock, and other materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form. Many routes cover long distances from city to city.
How do you prepare?
You must obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) AND Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) exam of the U.S. Department of Transportation. In addition to a written test, truck drivers must pass a physical exam, including vision and hearing screenings.

As a Heavy or Tractor Truck Driver in Iowa you can expect to earn approximately $36,282 a year, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
